Christmas Biscuits with Sugavida | Blogmas #5

There is nothing quite like Biscuits at Christmas, am I right? So when I received a packet of Sugavida* I knew what I was going to make right away!

Sugavida is a superfood sweetener, that is found in nature and is also the only plant based source of vitamin B12. Therefore it is perfect for Vegans and Vegetarians and also for those lacking in Vitamin B12. It is used as an alternative to sugar and other sweeteners in drinks, cooking, baking (exactly what I'm doing!) and for anywhere you may use sugar. In replacement of sugar, you only need to use 50% of what you normally would, so you are saving money on that too! 

100g Unsalted Butter, Softened
50g Sugavida Sugar
1 Medium Egg
275g Plain Flour
1 tsp Vanilla Extract

  1. Preheat your oven to 190C.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar together in a bowl.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract, a small bit at a time, until it is all well combined. 
  4. Stir in the flour to form a dough.
  5. Roll out the dough to a thickness of 1cm.
  6. Slice into rectangles or stamp out Christmas shapes.
  7. Bake for 8-10 minutes then set aside for 5 minutes to harden.
  8. Dip them in white chocolate or add icing.

And ta-da, the perfect Christmas biscuits! I opted for Biscuit "dippers" as then you can have them with a cup of tea!

I personally couldn't tell that there was not normal sugar used in them and I thought they tasted delicious! However, others did say that they didn't taste quite the same, so it is definitely preference to what you like more, with or without Sugavida!
