December Degustabox

It's Degustabox time! The December box is just in time for the new year, in my opinion, this box is very slightly a healthy one! It makes me very excited for the new year to try out some new and healthier foods, there are some protein and energy nut mixes, some sleep well milkshake, some gluten free products and some cheeky dark chocolate! Not massively healthy then...but still very slightly, sort of a mixture of both! On with the delicious products in this box.

Planters Nut Mixes:
I opened these and instantly thought of Phil, yes I'm a super caring girlfriend! There were two mixes, an energy mix with chocolate covered honeycomb, brazil nuts, walnuts & peanuts and theres was a protein mix with two kinds of peanuts, cashew nuts & almonds. The energy mix is right up my street and I know Phil would love the protein mix, both of which would work perfectly for what we need, I constantly need an energy boost at work and Phil is always after a healthy protein fix.

Sleep Well:
I am very intrigued by this drink and will be passing it over to Phil to test for me! The amazing drink tastes like vanilla milkshake, it is made with Jersey milk and honey and valerian. The valerian is a herb that helps people to relax and sleep and has been used for 2000 years, it is the first I've heard of it but it should definitely work! It can be drunk hot or cold but I imagine it would taste amazing warm!

Candy Kitten Gourmet Sweets:
I was super excited when I found these, they are Gluten Free sweets that taste of Sour Watermelon. I have been meaning to try these for ages and have just never gotten round to it. These Gourmet sweets have natural colours and flavours and definitely have a gourmet price at £3, but I can assure you that as a treat to yourself they are so worth it.

Popchips Galactic Puffs:
Star Wars shaped pop chips?! Oh my!! I was so excited when I pulled these out, I showed Phil and he was also excited, so it would be rude not to share them! I received the Sour Cream and Onion flavour in my box, it's not one that I would choose regularly but as a once in a while flavour it was yummy.

Ryvita Lightly Salted Rye Cakes:
I really enjoyed trying these, they remind me of rice cakes but a little bit thinner, they are made with popped wholegrain rye, and they are naturally high in fibre and low in fat, making the absolute perfect healthy snack addition! I loved having some tuna and cucumber on these as a snack!

Taking The Pea:
I received the Smoked Ham flavour in my box, and I was very grateful since I have tried the Wasabi flavour before. I love these as snacks! They're small pea snacks and contain more protein than crisps and less fat than nuts which make them the most ideal snack.

Coldpress:
I love these juices and drinks! I got Orange in my box, and I love drinking OJ at this time of year as it is so important to try and stay as healthy as possible in the cold weather and with all of the bugs going around!

Robinsons Fruit Creations:
I received the Pear, Blackcurrant & Cherry flavour in my box, not some fruits that I would always put together but I am absolutely in love with the combination. These flavours are aimed at the adults among us and it did not disappoint. It is packed full of fruit and is not weak at all which is delicious!

San Miguel 0.0%:
Another alcohol free beer! And another one for Phil! It's quite nice to have versions of beer and wine that are typically alcohol which have no alcohol in them, for some people at least! But in all seriousness, you get the wonderful joys of Beer without the hangover in the morning.

Mary Berry's Foods:
This was very exciting to unwrap and perfect timing for being healthy in the New Year! The Lemon and Mustard Seed Vinaigrette works well with all salad combinations, I can imagine it tasting delicious with Tuna or Chicken though. Their suggestion is with smoked salmon and potato or pasta salad.

Willies Cacao Black Pearls:
Ooh how luxurious do these look?! I received the delicious Sea Salt Caramel, coated in a fruity Chulucanas 70 Dark Chocolate, little pearls of heaven! These are truly delicious, you don't need too many but boy do you always want more!

Honestly one of the best boxes received, I'm so intrigued by all the products in this box!

You can use the code PU9SR, to get your first box for only £7.99, I can assure you it is worth it!

*The box and its contents were kindly gifted by Degustabox, but as always, all views and opinions are my own.

Reflecting on 2017

This year has been completely crazy, it's been a rollercoaster for sure, with some of the best memories I have but also the not so good. One of those things eh?

One of my highlights was getting to go to Disneyland Paris with Phil over my birthday, but we have done so many more exciting things this year as well! I've progressed in my career as well and had the opportunity to work for another company and learn a lot from it as well!

While there have been some things this year that I haven't achieved, I have achieved a lot regardless. And I will probably go in to the New Year with a slightly different approach, with my goals in mind and working on myself and my happiness as the most important things instead of other goals.

So Phil asked me last week what do I want to achieve next year, and it got me thinking, a lot. Like what do I want to achieve next year? So here it is:
  • Save More Money
  • Move in with Phil
  • Lose Weight & Be Healthier overall
  • Be More Creative

It's not much, but it's enough. I have plans in place for all of them, saving money will ultimately lead into moving in with Phil and getting ourselves set up with what we need! Being healthier both physically and mentally is a high priority for me, I need all of the meal ideas and to be more active, with work recently it's been so difficult but I'm going to use knowledge of those around me and if I need to seek help further afield then I will, I'll do anything it takes. I also want to be more creative, it's such a good outlet for me and I hope to share more as the year goes on.

Phil and I have many plans of what we want to do together in the years to come and it makes me so excited for the future, we are hoping to do another trip to Centerparcs next year, something affordable and something we will both enjoy, hopefully in May it will be slightly warmer too!

What are your plans for 2018?

Jack and the Beanstalk - Salisbury Playhouse

It's that time of the year again, Panto season! Phil and I absolutely knew we had to go see Jack and the Beanstalk* at Salisbury Playhouse, and I can assure you we were not disappointed in the slightest.

We have been doing what seems to be turning into a yearly event of the Panto, going to Christmas Markets, seeing friends, decorating the tree and basically having no free time in December whatsoever! I'm ok with that, it is the most wonderful time of the year after all.

We were so warmly greeted from the moment of getting our tickets and programme, we flicked through it while waiting to get our drinks to take in and then took our seats, took in the incredible set that sat in front of us and waited for the Panto to start. Basically our classic "what we do when we get to the Playhouse" scenario.

Jack and the Beanstalk is one of those classic Panto's, it is always on somewhere and it's also a play that I did when I was in Primary School, ya know back in the day. So it's a story that everyone knows well these days!

After the success of Aladdin last year, I honestly did not think that it could be topped, now it doesn't happen often, but it does happen occasionally...I was wrong! As our favourite character last year was Widow Twanky, played by Richard Ede, I cannot even tell you the look on our faces when we saw him walk on stage again playing Dame Trott this year. It was definitely one of those picture moments!

The acting was absolutely flawless, except for when they all had a tongue twister that went a little bit wrong as the Actors and Actresses were clearly enjoying themselves so much! They were so professional about it and completely went with it and the audience loved it, so I would say it was a win all round.

Their singing and dancing was also amazing! The whole cast were so talented and it was truly a pleasure to watch!

I'm sure I said the same last year but this did not feel like we were watching a Panto in Salisbury Playhouse, it was so much fun!

Cast:
Jack Trott - Sam Harrison
Princess Jill - Tanya Shields
Dame Trott - Richard Ede
Pat the Cow - Laura Crowhurst
Fortuna - Jemma Geanaus
King Crackpot - J.J. Henry
Nightshade - Steven Serlin
Giant - Himself
Ensemble/Swing - Andrew Ahern
Ensemble/Swing - Liberty Buckland

Thank you so much to Salisbury Playhouse again for inviting us, we had an incredible time and couldn't have asked for a better evening! You can get tickets to the performance here, which is running from 2nd December to 7th January.

*I was kindly gifted Press Tickets to Aladdin at Salisbury Playhouse
